Writing Challenge

“If you catch an adjective, kill it.” ~Mark Twain

Think about the implications this statement has for your writing. Can, or should, we do away with adjectives? No, I don’t think that’s what he meant. But I do think trying to write without them as an exercise might help us become more aware of words we use that we don’t need.

Here’s the challenge: write at least one scene or chapter in your book, or an article, without using adjectives.

Post your thoughts about the results on our Facebook site.

Kathryn also writes on Mondays and Thursdays at www.KathrynGraves.blogspot.com and on Tuesdays and Fridays at www.KathrynGraves.wordpress.com.
